The Human Learning system is a slow process. For that reason, a baby learns to speak after 10 months or more. So, many steps are needed to learn a baby. For that, the education system has developed. Through the proper education system gradually the human brain can be fertile to learn more. However, there are many methods of learning. The learning pyramid given below is shown many effective learning methods and retention rates.
Now, I want to discuss different methods of learning from my own experiences.
Learning by seeing:
We learn what we see around us. For that reason, the children learn from their parents and surroundings. They follow what they see around them. What the parents do children just follow. They learn good habits, bad habits, and all other things from their parents and seniors. The personality is transmitted from the parents to the baby.
Actually, a man learns from the environment. Initially, the head is fully blank. Gradually, he/she stores all the information from the surroundings. If the environment is good, the children learn good things. If we want to make our children good citizens, we have to ensure a good environment first.
Learning by reading:
We can learn many things by reading books, magazines, newspapers, and many other reading materials. These are the sources of knowledge. The people who read more can learn more. By learning more they become more knowledgeable. Uneducated people learn less because they have less opportunity to read.
Learning by following others:
We can learn many things by following others. If we follow someone and observe clearly, we can learn many things. A good observer is a good learner. The observation depends on attention. So the more attentive people can learn more. So an attentive follower we can learn many good things from the senior or superior. Also, we learn bad things by following others.
Learning by doing:
One of the best ways of learning is by doing work. If you want to learn a skill, firstly, you have to acquire some basic knowledge about the matter, which you love to do. Then start work on a small scale. Don’t give up and continue it by any means.
Initially, there may be some mistakes.
Secondly, re-correct the mistakes, brainstorm about the matter, and read the relevant materials.
Thirdly, take advice from seniors and discuss the matter with other known people.
Fourthly, if you have the opportunity you can teach others. This can give you the opportunity to polish your skill.
Finally, you can go deep dive into the matter. I believe you can learn anything. But you have to be a hard worker and have perseverance.
The individual Learning methods:
The learning methods are not the same for all people. That is why different people learn in different ways.
It is just like –
“Choosing a menu from the cafeteria”.
When some students go to the cafeteria, they select a different menu. The menu selection is their own choice. It does not depend on the choice of the manager. Similarly, for learning method is also different for different students.
As an educator, when we can discover the individual learning method of a learner, we can easily learn them. For this, we have to work a lot, do many experiments with the learners, have keen attention, and wait for the insight to understand the learners.
